Directions to Oaklands College:

By Train

From London’s Kings Cross to Welwyn Garden City railway station. This is just a few minutes walk from Oaklands College.

Leave the station, and go through the "Howard Centre" shopping precinct, take the escalator down to the ground floor. Leave the building via the main exit, directly in front of you. Veer to the right on exit, passing by McDonalds, Snappy Snaps, etc. on your right. Turn first right (street name Stonehills) and walk to the end of the road, passing several shops, including a Fish & Chip shop, Nationwide and NatWest. Using the pedestrian crossing, cross the roads directly in front of you. Continue straight on (multi storey car park on your right) then turn right to cross the dual-carriageway via the pedestrian crossing (Waitrose is in front of you). Turn left and walk along the pathway in front of Waitrose. Follow this round to the right (30 yards) passing the council offices and police station and then you will reach Oaklands College.

Entrance to the college is through the double doors at the front of the building - there will be people waiting to welcome you and direct you to the meeting hall.

By Road

Welwyn Garden City is reached via the A1(M). Whether you are travelling north (from London) or south, exit the A1(M) at junction 4. Follow the signs for the A6129 in to Welwyn Garden City you will come down a piece of dual carriageway parallel to the A1(M).

At the roundabout at the bottom turn right. You will pass by lakes on either side of the road ("Stanborough Lakes"). Continue along this road for 700 yards until you reach another roundabout. Take the first exit (virtually straight on).

Go straight over the next roundabout. A few hundred yards after this, the road branches and becomes one-way. (This road is called Parkway).

Continue to the end of this road and get in to the right hand lane, turn left and then almost immediately first right round the one way system Oaklands College is just past Campus West.

To access the car park take the first left hand turn immediately after the college, the larger car park is at the back of the building. Access to the building is easiest via the main doors at the front.
